Silver Spring is a city located in southeastern Montgomery County, Maryland with Zip codes 20910, 20905, 20904, 20906, 20901, 20903, and 20902. Silver Spring is very near Washington, DC. According to the 2020 census, 81,015 residents are living there. It’s the fourth most populated place in Maryland. Silver Spring is covered with 7.92 square miles of land and 9.4 square miles of water (15 percent reduction for the small ponds and creeks) stated in the 2010 Census.

The name Silver Spring came from a mica-flaked spring that was discovered by Francis Preston Blair in 1840, who later bought much of the surrounding land. In the early 21st century, downtown Silver Spring began to develop. Now, people enjoy staying here as it has an enjoyable nightlife, famous restaurants, and public schools.

Some of the famous landmarks are the National Museum of Health and Medicine and the headquarters of the National Oceanic, and the Atmospheric Administration. The schools near Silver Spring are Montgomery Blair High School, Julius West Middle School, Oak View, Elementary School, and the Torah School of Greater Washington. There are also some astonishing neighborhoods which include East Silver Spring, Indian Spring, Downtown Silver Spring, Montgomery Knolls, and Oakview.

Moving into Silver Spring is definitely exciting as it is intersected by four major creeks, Long Branch, Rock Creek, Northwest Branch, and Sligo Creek.Silver Spring is also near three major airports and has great public transportation. People living here can make use of the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center, a new transportation HUB for convenient public transportation services.
