Brookland, Washington, DC 20017

Located in the Northeast quadrant of Washington, DC, Brookland is a neighborhood known for its generous and nice people living there with a 20017 zip code. For most of the 19th century, Brookland was actually farmland and it was owned by Middleton and Queen Families. The development of this neighborhood was really fast and it continued in the 1870s when the Western Branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad opened.

Brookland has a lot of landmarks which include Fort Bunker Hill, Newton Theater, Brooks Mansion, Charles Richard Drew Memorial Bridge, Quincy House, and more. Even though it has various landmarks, Brookland has been at times called “Little Rome” because of its several Catholic organizations and institutions. Aside from these catholic organizations, there are nearby schools which is also an advantage for families with school-aged children. Some of these schools are Washington Leadership Academy Pcs, Brookland Middle School, Washington Yu Ying Pcs, and Archbishop Carroll High School.

Since this neighborhood is part of DC, then transportation is easy for residents living here. Two subway stations and various bus lines serve the area for public transportation by WMATA. Most people, especially post-graduates, are moving into this quiet neighborhood because it has a lot of good restaurants and shops. Another great attraction in this neighborhood is the Franciscan Monastery. It features stunning architecture and gardens.

Homes in Brookland are quite attractive as most of its houses are like Victorian and Queen Anne-style homes. Check out this place and get attracted to its quiet and safe neighborhood. Some notable people who stepped into this area are Robert F. Kennedy and President Harry Truman. Make Brookland your next neighborhood as it is worth it for you and your family.
